A Standard Security camera system required: Cameras, Recorder and one or more displays to view.

Cameras: There are many type of cameras. But in general, we device them into 2 types. IP Cameras and Analog CCTV cameras. IP cameras is computer based and CCTV cameras is Analog based. Costs for IP cameras are higher and required some advanced computer skill to setup and use but they have more advance functions and have great image quality. CCTV analog cameras are more popular, cheaper and simple to setup and use. Both of camera types comes in many shapes and sizes. Also images can be recorded in black and white or colors, can do night time view, weather proof, etc....

Recorders: All motions recorded from cameras will be stored on a records to view later. A recorders can be a DVR box, a computer or a Network storage device. The more cameras you have, the bigger storage you need. High quality image from cameras also takes more storage space.

Display: Traditional display is a normal TV. Nowaday, we can view live cameras or recorded videos from TV, LCD, Computer or even Mobile phones.
